Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural Education (S.M.S.C)

At Mudeford Juniors we recognise that the personal development of pupils, spiritually, morally, socially and culturally (S.M.S.C)  plays a significant part in their ability to learn and achieve.  We therefore aim to provide an education that provides children with opportunities to explore and develop their own values and beliefs, spiritual awareness, high standards of personal behaviour, a positive caring attitude towards other people, an understanding of their social and cultural traditions and an appreciation of the diversity and richness of other cultures. The values and ethos of our school support the development of the whole child.

British Values

The DfE have reinforced the need “to create and enforce a clear and rigorous expectation on all schools to promote the fundamental British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs”.  At Mudeford Junior School we uphold and teach pupils about British Values which are defined as:- Democracy, Rule of Law, Individual Liberty, Mutual Respect and Tolerance of those of different faiths and beliefs.

The opportunities that the children at our school receive are recorded or signposted on our S.M.S.C Audit (including British Values) which is updated annually.
