This week, click on the 'Summer Term - Week 8' link - the lessons continue to focus on Mr. Goodlet's favourite maths topic.......algebra and then onto conversion. There are 5 lessons in total, but you can begin to attempt 3 of your choice or have a go at all 5 over the course of the week if you like.

First of all, look at lesson 1 'Solve 2 step equations.' Watch the 10 minute teaching video. Then click on the worksheets below and give it a go in your Home Learning Book. The sheets follow the similar school structure of Fluency, Reasoning and Problem Solving.

Once complete, click on the answer sheet below and mark your work.

The BBC have 5 maths lessons for the week. They also follow a similar structure to the White Rose tasks - a video to watch and learn from, then some reading to learn from and then some game-style activities to practise on. The timetable for the week is as follows: 1) Using two step equations 2) Find possible values of a pair of variables 3) Convert metric measures 4) Convert between miles and kilometres 5) Challenge of the week.

If you look at the 'other home learning' link on our school website on the Year 6 page for this week, you will see the timetable that the BBC have set up for other subjects for the week.

Another website that has been set-up by the Government is the National Academy. They will have a series of 5 maths lessons for the week that include: 1) Areas problems 2) Volumes of cubes and cuboids 3) Convert between units of mass 4) Measure problems 5) Convert between units of time. The website follows a similar structure as the White Rose learning tasks - it starts with a quiz, followed by a learning video and then an activity so if you feel like trying these then complete them in your Home Learning Book. The website link is here

During the week, a particular favourite mathematician of mine - Gareth Metcalfe - adds a new reasoning and problem solving lesson every morning at around 9am at Feel free to give this a try too. He has included all the previous lessons on the website.

If you have completed all the other tasks and would like to attempt more maths, another website that will be of use is If you scroll down to the Year 6 area there are booklets for children and guidance packs for parents. The packs are supposed to last for 4 weeks at a don't try to complete it all in one go.
