Some members of the choir entertained Mums and Dads at the Christmas Fair 2012, other family members and friends with some delightful singing of songs, while coffee, tea and cakes were enjoyed in the music room, which was transformed into a little cafe for the duration of the Fair. The children demonstrated their ability to learn a wide range of songs and attracted a good audience. Well done to those choir members for their fantastic efforts.
On the 17th December 2010, 30 very lucky, excited children arrived at Southampton Docks to perform to passengers who were due to depart on their Mediterranean cruise.
On arrival, they went through customs and then had their lunch in one of the ship's restaurants. They were then taken to the entertainment suite where Mrs. Desborough sat at the grand piano and the children began to sing their programme of songs-a selection of traditional Carols and modern-day Christmas songs - to a very cheerful audience. After their performance, the children were given a guided tour around the ship after which they disembarked from the ship and assembled on the quayside to sing Christmas Carols accompanied by the brass band. Standing on each deck of the ship waving flags and cheering, were hundreds of passengers who were about to depart on their Christmas Cruise- this is traditionally referred to as "The Sailaway". As the temperature was rapidly dropping to around -3 degrees, the children needed to sing with plenty of energy to keep warm!!
A wonderful time was had by everyone and the children arrived back at school tired but happy and with a sense of achievement. During the Christmas holidays, Mrs. Desborough received an email from a guest who goes on the cruise annually and he informed her that the Mudeford Junior choir were the best they had listened to - a great credit to the children. The school is very proud of you - well done!
